| The Course for Sustainability consists
of a mixture of mandatory and elective modules. All
participants must attend the first and last modules,
while they can select from the middle modules
according to their professional goals. The first
module serves as an introduction to sustainable
development and the various policy and governance tools
used to further its aims, while the final module delves
deeper into policy and governance tools; examines case
studies; and equips participants with practical tools
and guidance as they return to their respective stations.
The middle modules focus on specific themes. Some
examples of past themes include: Sustainable Urban
Settlements; Energy and Industry; and Rural Development
and Natural Resources.
The course lectures and workshops are delivered by an
international team of participating experts from
Venice
International University (VIU), the
Regional
Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe
(REC),
Agroinnova,
Central European
University (CEU), the
Italian Ministry for the
Environment Land and Sea, and other international organisations and universities, such as the European
Commission. Course tutors are available to provide
additional support to the participants.
